New photos

I braved it and took both kids to get their pictures taken a couple weekends ago. It was just about as crazy as I expected it to be. Thank goodness mom came along (thank you mom!!) to help out while we picked the photos to buy. But the good thing is that it's over with and well worth it.

MORE Tales from the Toilet!

This first tale doesn't actually involved a toilet, unfortunately. On Sunday, Shanon and Brett spent the afternoon in our garage replacing the garage door opener and Macy was out there playing for awhile too. I was in the kitchen working on getting supper in the crock pot when Macy came in from the garage then headed directly out to the backyard. In a few minutes she came back inside and walked right up to me with a big grin on her face and exclaimed that she had just peed outside. It took me a second to process this, but once I did I immediately looked down at her pants and saw that they were soaking wet. She giggled with delight at my shocked reaction. I asked her why in the world she did that and she very proudly said she peed outside just like Brett!! So then we had to talk about how boys and girls are different (obviously, based on her pee soaked pants!). She was a little disappointed, but she still thought it was hilarious and proudly told Brett that she had peed outside just like him.

A couple evenings ago, I was getting stuff ready to give the kids a bath. After gathering pjs, lotion, diaper, etc. I returned to the bathroom and was just horrified when I saw Holden literally playing in the toilet water! I never even thought about him trying to do this let alone that he could actually reach it, but he proved me wrong by the looks of the mess he made on the seat. Thank goodness Macy had actually remembered to flush when she used it last!
Lesson #354: Keep the toilet lid down when not in use!

Tales from the toilet

Here's a little PSA for what apparently could happen when you're on the toilet if you're not careful...

I'm a little late with this since it happened last weekend, but this picture just does not do her lip justice... it was huge. No one was with her when it happened. She was in the bathroom going potty, then we heard a thud followed by panicked crying. Shanon went in there to check on her (I was feeding Holden) and found her face down on the bathroom floor, pants to her ankles. He got her up and found she was bleeding profusely at which point he calmly called me in there. I tried not to freak out (which is what I would normally do at the sight of that much blood) because she was already freaking out. I checked and all her teeth were still in tact so I figured that was good. Anyway, later we asked her what the heck happened and she said she was playing with the shower curtain (the tub is next to the toilet and she can reach the curtain) and lost her balance, causing her to fall off the toilet and bang her mouth on the tub. Hmmmm... lesson to be learned: the toilet is not a playground!!

A pony party

Yesterday we celebrated Macy's birthday with a party, My Little Pony style. I made her cake and although it's not as spectacular as last years, thanks to Betty Crocker I think it at least looks like a pony. Most importantly Macy was happy, mission accomplished!

Now daddy can say he bought his little princess a pony for her birthday!
Is this about as ornery as it gets or what!!!

Macy's face when she saw her new Barbie bike.

This thing even has a little bike on the handlebars for Barbie to ride on, how cute is that!!

Macy was super excited that Trystan was able to come to her party!

Holden really loved the cake and ice cream and didn't seem to mind that the icing was pink and got him all pink! He was practicing up for his party in just a month!

After everyone had left, Macy put her new Barbie outfit on and took her new bike for a test ride around the tables.

Happy 4th Birthday Macy... we love you and hope you had the best birthday ever!!
